Ray Elliott

Ray was my predecessor as organist and choirmaster at St. Mary’s, Horncastle.

He was an amazing man for whom I had the greatest respect. As well as being an accomplished musician, he had a wealth of knowledge about local history and was a known authority on the Lincolnshire dialect. You can listen to some of his recordings below.

Ray’s son, John has kindly supplied a biography.

It’s a fascinating read and very much a story of a man of his generation.

A Selection of Ray’s Dialect Recordings

2. The Joys of Heaven

3. The Old Yeo

4. Song – The Old Farmer of Tetford
